Cardinals Players in the Community

While the players are known for their work on the field, they are also committed to giving back to the community. The impact of their charitable work is local, national and international in scale. Some players have their own foundations, others support causes close to their hearts and all have supported Cardinals Care in its efforts to enhance the lives of children throughout Cardinals nation.

NOLAN ARENADO

Nolan Arenado is an annual supporter of Big League Impact's #AllWin Campaign and has pledged a donation to Ronald McDonald House for every Cardinals win in 2023.

PAUL DEJONG

Paul DeJong is a supporter of Big League Impact and Ronald McDonald House charities. DeJong's relationship with the Ronald McDonald House began when he broke the "M" in Big Mac Land with a home run, and, in exchange for the "M" made a donation to both the Ronald McDonald House St. Louis and Cardinals Care. DeJong has since donated funds to purchase meals for families and has visited to prepare a meal for families with his mom, Andrea, something he plans to do again in 2023.

TOMMY EDMAN

In 2021, Tommy Edman introduced the Edman's Elite player ticket program. Edman annually invites four area children's organizations to meet with him prior to the game. Each group is on field to watch batting practice and Edman signs autographs, answers questions and poses for photos before the group enjoys that night's game.

Edman is also an active supporter of Big League Impact and its fundraising initiatives including the #AllWin Campaign, Swinging for Impact St. Louis, and Fantasy Football St. Louis League. In 2023, Edman will make a donation to the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation for every Cardinals win as part of the #AllWin Campaign.

JACK FLAHERTY

Flaherty's mother Eileen Flaherty is a breast cancer survivor and, with Jack's support, is the honorary captain of the Cardinals More Than Pink Walk Team presented by Mercy. The Walk Team takes in the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk St. Louis with funds raised in support of a cure.

PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT

Since signing with the Cardinals in 2018, Paul has joined teammate and 2020 Roberto Clemente Award winner, Adam Wainwright, in several charitable efforts through Wainwright's charity, Big League Impact. Over the years, through his partnership with BLI and the #AllWin campaign Goldschmidt raised thousands of dollars for charities including Habitat for Humanity and Food for the Hungry. Additionally, Goldschmidt participates in BLI's Fantasy Football St. Louis League and Swinging For Impact St. Louis fundraising initiatives.

In 2022, Goldschmidt held a free baseball clinic for kids, parents and coaches at Busch Stadium. His mission for the clinic is to stress the importance of using sports, specifically baseball, to build life skills rather than solely focusing on winning. He also hosted Uncork for a Cause, a gala that benefited Water Mission, a nonprofit, Christian engineering organization that designs, builds and implements safe water, sanitation and hygiene solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas.

Goldschmidt annually hosts the Goldy's Golden Ticket program to bring children from across the St. Louis region to meet with him during batting practice and enjoy the game four times a season.

As part of MLB's inaugural Lou Gehrig Day in 2021 and each year since, Goldschmidt signed limited edition Lou Gehrig Day baseballs that helped the ALS Association and Muscular Dystrophy Association raise funds to support their work supporting local individuals and families impacted by ALS.

Goldschmidt was the team's 2021 and 2022 Roberto Clemente Award Nominee. Goldschmidt l was also honored in 2023 as a finalist for the Lou Gehrig Award.

RYAN HELSLEY

Ryan Helsley is an active supporter of Big League Impact's fundraising initiatives including the #AllWin Campaign, Swinging for Impact St, Louis, and Fantasy Football St. Louis League. For every win in 2023, Helsley will donate to Habitat for Humanity St. Louis, which provides local families living in substandard rental housing with the opportunity to help build and then purchase a home they can afford to maintain.

STEVEN MATZ

Steven Matz is a strong supporter of charities that benefit members of the Armed Forces and First Responders. In 2022, Steven provided tickets and met with fans from Peterson Outdoor Ministries, whose mission is to provide faith based outdoor recreational therapy for injured and recovering Veterans, and their families, as well as youth and adults with disabilities or terminal illness.
Matz is also participating in Big League Impact's #AllWin Campaign in 2023 and will donate to Backstoppers, a local nonprofit that provides ongoing financial assistance and support to the spouses and dependent children of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

In 2023, Matz started his Matz's Tru32 player ticket program that invites children serving organizations to meet with him prior to a game and provides t-shirts and tickets.

MILES MIKOLAS

Miles Mikolas is an active supporter of Big League Impact. For every win in 2023, Mikolas will donate to the Crisis Aid Women's Shelter, a holistic home and safe haven for American female survivors of sex trafficking, as part of the #ALLWIN Campaign.

LAARS NOOTBAAR

In 2023, Laars Nootbaar debuted his player ticket program Nooots Group. Nootbaar will provide four area children's organizations with tickets to a game this season, and meet with them before the game.

ADAM WAINWRIGHT

Adam Wainwright founded Big League Impact with the mission to provide basic needs including food, clean water, medical care and shelter in an effort to restore dignity and hope to those in need across the globe. Big League Impact works with over two dozen MLB players to bring their charitable aspirations to life through Fantasy Football Leagues, game nights, Swinging for Impact events and the #AllWin fundraising campaign.

Since 2014, Adam has hosted the Waino's Winners ticket program that brings children from across the St. Louis region to meet with him during batting practice and enjoy the game four times a season.

Wainwright was recognized for his charitable work as the 2020 League-wide Roberto Clemente Award winner.
