Julio Rodríguez is a first-time nominee. Since his MLB debut in 2022, Julio has demonstrated a profound commitment to expanding youth baseball access and aiding under-resourced communities in his hometown of Loma de Cabrera, Dominican Republic, in the greater Seattle community and across the globe.
In September 2024, Julio launched his No Limits Foundation to spread his love of baseball and create pathways to success for under-resourced youth. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed more than $2 million in cash donations, goods and services to underprivileged youth across the globe. In addition, the foundation has donated to organizations in the U.S., including Baseball Beyond Borders, El Centro de la Raza, You Grow Girl! and Harvest Against Hunger. Through these efforts, the foundation has advanced its mission to create opportunities that inspire children to believe in their boundless potential.
In its first full year (2025), the No Limits Foundation supported more than 5,000 children in Loma de Cabrera through meal and toy distributions, baseball equipment donations, hygiene services, youth sports clinics and local health initiatives. The foundation also rebuilt the town’s Community Center, which serves the area’s 20,000-plus residents. Many of these efforts were driven by Julio’s annual Three Kings Day celebration on Jan. 6, which creates safe spaces for youth, provides essential resources and inspires the next generation of athletes.
In fall 2025, Julio’s No Limits Foundation made its most significant investment in the community yet. In partnership with the Green Hope Foundation and sponsors, the foundation began a four-months-long, state-of-the-art renovation to a baseball, softball and soccer complex in Loma de Cabrera, the same field that Julio played on growing up that inspired him to become the elite MLB player he is today. Julio personally pledged $600,000 to the renovation and received grants from the MLBPA's Youth Development Foundation and Mariners Care Foundation to fund the $1.2 million project, resulting in the country’s first-ever public AstroTurf baseball field. The complex, which was unveiled on Jan. 6, 2026, now features multiple baseball and softball fields, bullpens, batting cages, turf practice areas and modern utilities and spectator spaces to facilitate the development of young athletes in the Dominican Republic.
Julio’s dedication to enriching the well-being of Loma de Cabrera’s residents and its surrounding communities also extends far beyond sports. In 2023, Julio donated the city’s first ambulance to their Civil Defense headquarters, providing citizens with more advanced medical resources. In 2025, Julio rebuilt the house of an elderly woman whose home in Cabarete was recently flooded before his visit to the area. During this year’s Three Kings Day celebration, he partnered with Oakley to provide on-site vision tests and eyeglasses for residents of Loma de Cabrera and distributed apples with Manzanas Washington to promote healthy eating.
Throughout the season in Seattle, Julio regularly supports initiatives with Mariners community partners, including welcoming patients from Seattle Children’s Hospital to the ballpark and collaborating with local organizations that aid underserved populations nearby.
On March 25, 2026, Julio brought 10 foster youth from the nonprofit Seattle Angels, along with their siblings and caregivers, to the University of Washington's Husky Ballpark for a gift-giving event, Q&A session and behind-the-scenes look at a commercial he was filming. Later in the season, he hosted the group for batting practice and a game in his “J-Rod Squad” section.
In 2024, Julio visited more than 100 youth members at El Centro de la Raza, a Latino community center that provides 40-plus services to kids, young adults and families in King County, where he learned about the organization’s initiatives and gifted the youth members with Adidas shoes.
At just 25 years old, Julio has become a hometown hero in Loma de Cabrera and one of the faces of Mariners baseball. Through his unwavering commitment to inspiring the next generation of athletes and investing in underserved populations, Julio Rodríguez has utilized his global platform to drive meaningful change to the communities about which he cares most deeply.
