Francisco Lindor's commitment to family serves as the foundation for the way he approaches leadership, service and giving back.
Francisco embodies the spirit of the Roberto Clemente Award through his unwavering dedication to service, education, youth development and community leadership. While recognized as one of baseball's premier players, his greatest impact extends far beyond the game through meaningful initiatives that create opportunities, inspire young people and strengthen the communities he serves.
2026 Community impact
In 2026, Francisco continued to expand his commitment to serving others through several impactful new initiatives. In partnership with New Balance, Francisco launched Lindor's Leaders, a year-long leadership development program for students in Bayside High School's Sports Medicine Program. Centered on mental health, communication, teamwork and leadership, the initiative allows Francisco to personally mentor students while equipping them with the confidence and skills to become leaders in their schools and communities.
Also in 2026, Francisco partnered with Dairy Queen and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in support of Miracle Treat Day, helping raise critical funds for local children's hospitals. Through the campaign, $1 or more from every Blizzard treat sold was donated to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, directly benefiting children and families in need.
His leadership on and off the field was further recognized when he was named a 2026 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award finalist, honoring his character, integrity and commitment to serving others.
Education
Education has long been one of Francisco's greatest passions. As a proud graduate of Montverde Academy, he believes that education is the foundation for future success. Since 2020, Francisco has donated more than $1 million to help fund and develop Lindor Hall, a two-story middle school building featuring state-of-the-art science and technology labs. He also established the Francisco Lindor Scholarship Fund to provide opportunities for students who otherwise would not have the financial means to attend Montverde Academy. Beyond his financial contributions, Francisco remains personally involved with scholarship recipients through mentorship, career guidance and annual PLAY BALL youth baseball events, reinforcing his belief that investing in young people creates lasting change. He has also donated baseball gear and equipment to the school's team over the years, further demonstrating his commitment to expanding access to youth sports and creating opportunities for the next generation.
Commitment to Puerto Rico
Francisco has remained deeply committed to his native Puerto Rico. Following Hurricanes Maria and Fiona, he provided financial support for disaster relief, restored athletic facilities in his hometown of Caguas, hosted youth baseball clinics and partnered with organizations including Team Rubicon, the Amazin' Mets Foundation, Players for the Planet and Rescate Playas Borinquen to support recovery and environmental conservation efforts.
Serving the Queens community
In the community he now calls home, Francisco continues to make a lasting impact through initiatives that support the health, education and well-being of local youth. In partnership with New Balance, he provides hundreds of students each year with backpacks and school supplies through an annual back-to-school initiative, helping ensure they are prepared for academic success. Now in its third season, Lindor Smile Tuesdays promotes dental health, self-confidence, mentorship and overall wellness by welcoming youth organizations to Citi Field for educational experiences that inspire healthy habits while celebrating the game of baseball.
Growing the game
As an ambassador for baseball, Francisco is passionate about making the game more accessible and inclusive for all. He regularly participates in the Mets' Clinic for Champions with Special Olympics Florida and hosts the Lindor Clinic for Kids for local youth leagues and Boys & Girls Clubs.
A legacy of service
Francisco's accomplishments on the field -- including multiple All-Star selections, Silver Slugger Awards, All-MLB honors and the Heart & Hustle Award -- reflect excellence as a player. His enduring legacy, however, is defined by the lives he impacts through service, generosity and leadership.
By investing in education, mentoring future leaders, supporting children and families, serving Puerto Rico and Queens, and using baseball as a platform to inspire others, Francisco exemplifies the compassion, humility and selflessness that Roberto Clemente represented. His unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others makes him a deserving nominee for the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award.
