Through his partnership with Olive Crest and the Padres Foundation, Jason Adam and his wife, Kelsey, have turned his success on the mound into a lifeline for children facing abuse and family crisis, one of many ways he's built a legacy of service that extends well beyond baseball. Jason's path to this point has not been easy. A knee injury threatened to sideline his career, but he fought his way back to the mound through the same determination he brings to his work in the community. On the field and off it, Jason shows up, does the work and lets the results speak for themselves.
Striking Out Child Abuse – Olive Crest
That partnership, in support of Striking Out Child Abuse, is where his impact is most evident. For each strikeout he records, Jason and Kelsey sponsor a crisis host through Olive Crest, providing $1,250 to ensure a child experiencing abuse, neglect or family crisis has access to a safe, loving home. The initiative directly supports emergency placements, host family training and ongoing services for vulnerable children throughout San Diego County. Jason has said that while every pitcher strives for strikeouts, knowing each one provides hope and safety for a child makes every success on the mound more rewarding.
Padres Foundation impact
Beyond his personal initiatives, Jason has become one of the Padres Foundation's most engaged player ambassadors. He has worked closely with Rady Children's Hospital on a variety of events, offering encouragement to children currently battling cancer. For the past two seasons, Jason has also helped host a group of teen cancer patients in Peoria, Arizona, for a weekend at Spring Training, giving them much-needed time away from the stressors of daily hospital life.
Youth assistance coalition
Most recently, Jason and Kelsey expanded their impact through a partnership with the Youth Assistance Coalition, a local charity less than a mile from Petco Park focused on the area's growing homeless youth population. The Adams hosted and served dinner for these young people, creating an evening centered on dignity, compassion and connection. Together, they supplied clothing, snacks, hygiene items and other essentials while taking the time to build genuine relationships. They gave more than meals and supplies. They gave their time and attention, which, for kids used to being overlooked, mattered just as much.
Two-time nominee
Jason's commitment to service is not limited to one city or one season. He was previously recognized as the Roberto Clemente Award nominee for the Tampa Bay Rays, and he has continued that work since coming to San Diego. Wherever he has played, Jason has shown that his desire to serve comes from who he is, not where he is playing.
