Along with his wife, Cassandra, the couple have two children...Spent his junior and senior collegiate seasons at the University of Iowa (2016-17), combining to hit .311 (148-for-476) over 117 games with 30 doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 68 RBI (.816 OPS)…Played for Illinois Central College from 2013-15, and was named a two-time NJCAA All-American shortstop...Was named Freshman Player of the Year in 2013 after batting .394 with 18 doubles, six triples and five home runs...At Washington Community High School, lettered in baseball, basketball and soccer, while earning all-conference honors in basketball and soccer.

2025

Concluded his third Major League season and second with the Padres, appearing in 18 games across a pair of call-ups with a career-best two stolen bases and .272 rOBA (measure of a player's offensive contributions, weighted in proportion to each event's actual run value)...2025 was McCoy's eighth professional season, signing back with the Padres on a Minor League deal on Dec. 5, 2024...In 90 games with Triple-A El Paso, slashed .272/.354/.450 with 22 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 59 RBI...Hit safely in five of his final eight games (.269 BA), including a three-hit, three-RBI effort on Aug. 28 vs. Tacoma...In his first call-up this season from April 22-27, went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts across five games (one start)...Placed on the 10-day injured list on April 29 (retro to April 28) with a left finger sprain...Reinstated on June 7 after taking a rehab assignment to Triple-A El Paso, where he was later optioned to after his rehab stint...Recalled on Aug. 29 from Triple-A El Paso for his second stint with the big league club after INF Xander Bogaerts was placed on the 10-day IL with a non-displaced, left-foot fracture...Logged his first hit and RBI of the season on Sept. 6 @ COL...It snapped a hitless streak of 23 straight at-bats dating back to Sept. 4, 2024...Hit his sole extra-base hit of the season (a double) and third of his career on Sept. 14 vs. COL (last: Aug. 31, 2024).

Across his 19 games played (16 GS) with SD, reached base in nine of the 18 contests in which he logged an at-bat and slashed .204/.278/.245 with two 2B, three RBI, five BB, 19 SO and one SB...Defensively, turned in a perfect fielding percentage (53 TC) across 19 games (16 GS) and 143.2 innings at shortstop...Across the 19 games of his sophomore season, collected a hit in eight of those contests, including a career-long, five-game hitting streak and OB streak from Aug. 21-25 (.385/.500/.385)…it marked the first time in his Major League career he had collected a hit in consecutive games...Notched his first ML hit after his contract was selected the same day on Aug. 21 vs. MIN…drove in his first career run the following day vs. NYM...Connected with his first career XBH (2B) on Aug. 27 @ STL...Logged his first multi-hit effort and second career XBH on Aug. 31 @ TB, a double to left field in the top of the seventh inning...Placed on the 10-day Injured List on Sept. 22 (retro: Sept. 19) for the remainder of the season with back inflammation...Saw a majority of his playing time with Triple-A El Paso, where he batted .260 (100-for-385) with 26 2B, three 3B, five HR and 50 RBI across 108 games...As a Chihuahua, accrued a career mark in 2B and matched his career high in SB from 2023 with 25 swipes…also ranked among the top PCL bats in both 2B (T-7th) and SB (T-8th)

2023

Began the season with the Mariners' organization for the second consecutive season and played in 87 games for Triple-A Tacoma before being traded to TOR on July 26 for RHP Trent Thornton...On Aug. 29 with TOR, received the first big league call-up of his career...went on to appear in six games as a Blue Jay, going 0-for-1 with one SO...appeared at SS six times as a defensive replacement...the Blue Jays were 5-1 with him on their roster...Optioned back to BUF on Sept. 8 before being DFA’d by TOR on Sept. 20, and outrighted back to BUF two days later...At the time of his promotion, had split the season at the at the Triple-A level between BUF and TAC, hitting .226 (91-for402) over 108 G with 21 2B, three 3B, 12 HR and 64 RBI...Overall at Triple-A, posted Minor League career highs in RBI (65), stolen bases (25), walks (59) and strikeouts (146) at a .221 (92-for-417) clip across 114 combined games...Spent time defensively at SS (84 G), 2B (12 G), and third (9 G)…turned in a combined .986 fielding % (6 errors)...Signed a Minor League contract with the Padres on Nov. 18.

2022

Acquired by Seattle from Baltimore in exchange for cash consideration April 7 and spent the entire season with Triple-A Tacoma, where he posted a career-high .805 OPS...overall, hit .256 (113x442) with 72 runs scored, 23 doubles, five triples, 21 home runs, 63 RBI, 50 walks, 63 RBI and 22 stolen bases.

2021

Spent the season with Triple-A Norfolk in the Orioles organization, slashing .221/.288/.368.

2020

Did not play during the regular season, because of the cancellation of the minor league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic...Appeared in nine spring games, hitting .100 (1-for-10) with three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base...A non-roster Spring Training invitee; his first career Major League camp invite.

2019

Named an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star...Named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star...Named the Orioles Player of the Month for June; .313/.379/.384 (35-for-112), 6-2B, 1-3B, 18 R, 4 RBI, 27 G...Finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the Orioles organization in average (10th - .266), hits (2nd - 158), triples (T-1st - 7), total bases (3rd - 206), and runs (T-1st - 81)...Split the season between Class A-Advanced Frederick and Double-A Bowie, hitting a combined .290 (158-for-545) with 22 doubles, seven triples, four home runs, 81 runs scored, and 48 RBI in 132 games...Hit .379 (44-for-116) with 11 extra-base hits, 21 runs, and 17 RBI in 27 games for Frederick before his promotion on 5/6...Following the season, played for the Surprise Saguaro's of the Arizona Fall League; .219 (14-for-64), 2-2B, 3B, 8 R, 5 RBI...Named an Arizona Fall League Rising Star...Finished the season No. 27 Orioles prospect, according to Baseball America.

2018

Spent the entire season with Class-A Delmarva, appearing in 124 games and hitting .266 (128-for-482) with 18 doubles, 10 triples, four home runs, 66 runs scored, and 47 RBI...Led the Shorebirds in triples and finished second on the team in hits and games played...Hit .348 (31-for-89) in 25 day games...Recorded his first career multi-triple game on 4/29 at Hickory.

2017

Spent his first professional season with Short Season-A Aberdeen...Appeared in 53 games for the IronBirds, hitting .301 (56-for-186) with 34 runs scored and 29 RBI...Ranked third in the New York-Penn League in OBP (.382) and fifth in batting average...Named a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star...Connected on his first professional home run on 8/7 at Tri-City.
