Jung appeared in just 46 games due to a pair of stints on the Injured List for a right wrist fracture (4/2-7/29) and right wrist tendinitis (9/24-end of season)…was also sidelined most of Spring Training with a left calf strain suffered while taking groundballs on his first day in Surprise on 2/17/24; was unable to leave the field under his own power after reporting discomfort in his left calf…slashed .264/.298/.421/.719 (47- 178) with seven home runs and 16 RBI over 46 games/starts (40- 3B, 6-DH) worked walks in just right of 188 PA (4.3%), but his 25.5% strikeout percentage was the lowest of his career as he has seen his strikeout rate decrease over each season of his MLB career (38.2% in 2022, 29.3% in 2023, 25.5% in 2024)…batted .273/.351/.394/.745 (9-33) with one HR and one RBI vs. left-handed pitchers and .262/.285/.428/.712 (38-145) with 6 HR and 15 RBI vs. right-handed pitchers…13 of 47 hits went for extra bases (7 HR, 3B, 5 2B), as his .421 slugging percentage ranked second among Rangers (min. 100 PA) to only Corey Seager (.512)…saw better offensive results at Globe Life Field (.282/.330/.485/.816 in 27 G) than on the road (.240/.250/.333/.583 in 19 G)…hit .333 (12-36) with 3 HR and 12 RBI with runners in scoring position…suffered right wrist fracture when he was struck by a pitch on a swinging strike on 4/1 at TB (Ryan Pepiot) and underwent surgery to repair the injury on 4/2 in Phoenix…placed on 10-day IL on 4/2 and transferred to the 60-day IL on 4/8 before beginning a Minor League rehab assignment with Round Rock (AAA) and Frisco (AA) on 6/16… activated from IL on 7/29 and batted .248 (40-161) with five HR, four 2B and 10 RBI in 42 G after return…after reporting additional tension in his wrist, was placed on 10-day IL on 9/24 with right wrist tendinitis…had ECU tendon release surgery performed on right wrist by Dr. Steven Shin in Los Angeles on 10/8 and began normal activities 3-4 weeks following the procedure.

Due to the cancellation of the minor league season, Jung spent the entire 2020 campaign at the club’s Alternate Training Site in Arlington, participating in daily workouts and scrimmages with a group of Rangers prospects…he also competed in the Fall Developmental League in Arizona, registering a .345/.447/.563/1.010 slash line with three HR and 13 RBI, and finishing among team leaders in runs (1st, 16), doubles (T1st, 10), hits (2nd, 30), and walks (2nd, 15)…was 2-for-8 (.250) with a pair of singles and a run scored in eight Spring Training ‘A’ game appearances prior to the COVID-19 shutdown…saw additional action in Summer Camp scrimmages and workouts at Globe Life Field before the resumption of the regular season in July.

Rated by Baseball America as Texas’ top prospect entering 2020, and as well as no. 55 (MLB.com) and no. 93 (BA) overall on the overall top prospects lists...combined to bat .316 (55-174) with 2 HR and 28 RBI in 44 G with Low-A Hickory and Rookie-level AZL Rangers in his professional debut…homered in 1st pro AB as part of a 3-for-4, 3-RBI performance on 7/11 vs. AZL Dodgers...appeared in just 4 G in the Arizona League before he was promoted to Hickory on 7/16…ranked among South Atlantic League leaders in 2B (T2nd, 13), RBI (T10th, 23), H (T10th, 45), and BA (13th, .287) from the time his promotion thru the end of the season…named the 10th-best prospect in the SAL by Baseball America at the end of the year.
