Cody grew up in California, but spent the first nine years of his life in Richmond, Va....his father, Scott, is a Baptist pastor, a job that has taken him all over the country...needless to say, Cody grew up in the church and lives his life through this bible verse: 1 Peter 5:6, which states “Humble yourself, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time”...Is a 2017 graduate of Tracy HS, which is in Tracy, Calif., just east of Oakland...was named the 2017 Most Valuable Pitcher in the Tri-City Athletic League as a senior after going 9-2 with a 1.13 ERA...pitched four seasons on his varsity team, compiling a 24-6 record with a 1.42 ERA, 11 complete games and 201 strikeouts in his career...was a three-time, first-team All-Area pitcher, who helped guided the Tracy Bulldogs to two Tri-City Athletic League championships and two Sac-Joaquin Section Division I South titles...was committed to the University of Michigan...Was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB First-Year...signed with the Pirates, foregoing his commitment to Michigan...Is looking to become just the third player with the first name of Cody to appear in a game with the Astros...should he do so, he would join IF Cody Ransom (19 G in 2007) and C Cody Clark (16 G in 2013)...Joined the Astros on a two-year minor league contract on July 24, 2025...has accrued 149 days of MLB service across parts of three years (2023-25).

2025
