In addition to baseball, Ryan was a talented basketball and football player during his time at Westfield (Ind.) High School…he quit basketball as a junior, but quarterbacked the football team for four years…he earned multiple football scholarship offers, including one from Ball State, but ultimately chose to pursue a baseball career…he compares his playing style to retired Pittsburgh Steeler Ben Roethlisberger because he was, in his words, “basically a fullback who could throw.”...Ryan and his wife, Lilia, were married on Nov. 13, 2021 in Puerto Vallarta…the couple loves to travel—some of their destinations include Dubai, Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon and Punta Cana…they visited London this past season and caught a match at Stamford Bridge, home of the Premier League’s Chelsea F.C. since 1877...Ryan and Lilia have fallen in love with St. Pete since moving there in 2024, becoming year-round residents…he says the city feels like he “wakes up on vacation” every day…he is a frequent visitor to several restaurants and coffee shops in Downtown St. Pete...Ryan earned the nickname “Spider-Man” from teammates in 2024 after spending nearly a month on the injured list due to a right knee infection caused by a spider bite over the All-Star break…after he earned the win on his birthday in Oakland, he was presented with a Spider-Man cake in the Rays clubhouse...While growing up in Indianapolis, he was a Reds fan because his father is from Ohio…some of his favorite players included Bronson Arroyo, Ken Griffey Jr., Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto…he was also a fan of CC Sabathia...Ryan started growing out his hair in 2020 when most barbers shut down due to the COVID pandemic and has kept the longer look ever since...If he didn’t play baseball, Ryan’s dream job would be either an NFL quarterback or ESPN analyst.

Earned his first professional win on June 23 with Double-A Tulsa, tossing 6.0 scoreless frames against Springfield with six strikeouts... Collected three straight wins from June 23–July 4, allowing just three earned runs over 17.0 innings with 20 strikeouts and just three walks...
