Griffin is a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, earning the promotion in June 2021 and remains the only Air Force Academy graduate to play in the majors…his younger twin brothers, Capt. Parker “Mad” Jax and Capt. Carson Jax and his sister-in-law, Capt. Chandler “Goldie” Jax, are all active duty pilots, and all four attended the Academy together…Griffin’s wife, Savannah, is also an Air Force Captain and has completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan..In 2024, the Jax family participated in a pregame flyover above Target Field to commemorate the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, with Parker and Chandler flying F-35 Lightning II jets from the 421st “Black Widows” Fighter Squadron and Carson throwing a ceremonial first pitch to Griffin on the ground...During his time at the Air Force Academy, Griffin never piloted a mission himself, but he did fly in an F-16 as part of a “familiarization flight”…he also jumped out of planes over 200 times during his Academy days...His father, Garth, is a Florida State University product who played 11 seasons as a linebacker for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys (1986-88) and Arizona Cardinals (1989-95)…during his time with the Seminoles, he was teammates with future Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders...Griffin and Savannah, who were married in 2021, have two daughters..,.In January, he was officially selected to pitch for Team USA at the 2026 World Baseball Classic…he and Pirates ace Paul Skenes coordinated tickets for the Air Force Academy baseball team to attend Team USA’s pool play win over Mexico.
