Jackson Jobe #21

Graduated from Heritage Hall High School (Okla.), where he went 9-0 with a 0.13 ERA as a senior. Jobe was named Oklahoma’s Gatorade Player of the Year and the Prep Baseball Report Player of the Year. His father, Brandt, has been a professional golfer since 1988 and is currently on the PGA Champions Tour. Selected by the Tigers in the first-round (third overall) of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Heritage Hall High School (signing scout: Steve Taylor). Made his Major League debut on Sept. 25, 2024, against Tampa Bay.

2025

Went 4-0 over his first eight starts, with Detroit winning all eight games, setting the club record for consecutive team wins in starts to begin a career...the Tigers won each of Howie Koplitz’ first seven career starts from Sept. 30, 1961-Aug. 25, 1962...Earned his first Major League win against the Twins on April 12, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out two over six scoreless innings...Entered the season ranked as MLB’s No. 5 overall prospect and the top prospect in the Tigers’ system according to MLB Pipeline...Earned a spot on the Opening Day roster for the first time in his career after going 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five Spring Training starts...Placed on the 15-day injured list on May 30, retro to May 29, with a right grade one flexor strain...transferred to the 60- day IL on June 12 and missed the remainder of the season.

2024

Had his contract selected by Detroit on Sept. 24 and made his Major League debut the following day against Tampa Bay...Combined to start 21 games between High-A West Michigan, Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo, posting a 5-3 record with a 2.36 ERA (24ER/91.2IP) and 96 strikeouts...Became the first Tigers pitcher to have at least three no-hit innings in one of his first two Major League appearances since Sandy Báez on June 4, 2018...Appeared in two playoff games, giving up three runs on five hits in 1.2 innings...Pitched in his first postseason game on Oct. 2 at Houston...at 22 years and 64 days old, was Detroit’s fourth-youngest pitcher to appear in a postseason game, trailing only Joel Zumaya (2006), Fred Hutchinson (1940) and Ralph Works (1909).

2023

Combined to make 15 starts between Single A Lakeland, Single A West Michigan and Double A Erie in 2023...Struck out 84 batters and walked just six in his 64.0 innings of work during the season...On the injured list from April 6-July 21 with lumbar spine inflammation...Earned Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Month honors for August after going 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA (25.0IP/9ER) and 32 strikeouts in five starts...Was promoted to Erie at the end of the season and made one start for the SeaWolves on Sept. 17, pitching 6.0 shutout innings with four hits allowed, no walks and six strikeouts...Made four starts with Salt River in the Arizona Fall League and went 3-1 with a 2.87 ERA (15.2IP/5ER) and 19 strikeouts...Ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the Tigers organization and the No. 20 prospect in baseball by Baseball America following the season.
