Rangers Activate RHP Cole Winn From 15-Day Injured List

Winn is available for tonight’s game at Kansas City

June 9th, 2026

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today activated right-handed pitcher Cole Winn from the 15-day Injured List. Winn fills the vacancy on the club’s 26-man roster after the Rangers optioned right-handed pitcher Luis Curvelo to Triple-A Round Rock following Sunday’s game vs. Cleveland.

Additionally, infielder Josh Smith’s injury rehab assignment was transferred from Double-A Frisco to Triple-A Round Rock.

Winn, 26, was placed on the 15-day Injured List with right arm fatigue on May 24 and missed the minimum amount of games (14), as the right-hander was first eligible to be activated yesterday on the club’s off day. He logged one rehab appearance with Round Rock on Friday at Oklahoma City, covering 0.2 innings without allowing a hit or run while recording one strikeout and issuing one walk. Winn was active for the Rangers’ first 51 games of the 2026 season, going 2-1 with one save, a 5.59 ERA (12 ER/19.1 IP), and 23 strikeouts against 7 walks in 22 relief outings. He ranked 3rd on the team in appearances through May 23, trailing only Tyler Alexander (23) and Jalen Beeks (23). Since debuting with Texas in 2024, the Longmont, Colo. native and first-round selection in 2018 has pitched to a 3.91 ERA (34 ER/78.1 IP) in 68 career games (all relief) over three campaigns.

The 25-year-old Curvelo has posted no record and a 4.91 ERA (4 ER/7.1 IP) in 7 relief appearances over two stints with Texas this season (April 5-May 19, June 1-7). He also spent time on the 15-day Injured List with a right biceps strain from April 15-May 19. Curvelo last appeared on Sunday vs. Cleveland, finishing the Rangers’ 10-0 victory with a scoreless 9th inning.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with four players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP Carter Baumler and LHP’s Cody Bradford, Robert Garcia, and Jordan Montgomery).
