COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD

Founded in 1968, Christine Camara from Children’s Musical Theater of San Jose is the city’s longest-running performing arts organization and a national leader in youth arts education. The organization offers inclusive musical theater programs for youth ages 4–20, producing 11 shows annually, hosting year-round classes and maintaining a commitment to never turn a child away due to financial or physical limitations.

Christine has been a dedicated volunteer with CMT for over 20 years, contributing more than 80 hours each month to support its mission. A trusted leader and behind-the-scenes force, Christine plays a vital role in managing logistics for all 11 productions—ensuring that every child and family feels seen, supported and welcomed. She also leads CMT’s engagement and hospitality team, planning events, preparing meals and fostering a warm, inclusive environment for performers, families and donors alike.

Christine’s dedication and unwavering belief in the power of the arts embody the true spirit of community. Through her leadership, she uplifts others and creates a lasting sense of belonging—reminding us of the transformative power of the arts.
