    Words of the Week

Junior Giants uses baseball and softball as a platform to help young people grow on and off the field. Throughout the season, players participate in weekly character development conversations centered around important life lessons called Words of the Week.

Coaches are provided with age-appropriate conversation starters called Word of the Week Talks (WOW Talks) to help guide these discussions with their teams.

Players also receive a baseball card each week that corresponds with the Word of the Week, helping reinforce the lesson and giving them something to take home.

Week 1 — Introduction to Junior Giants

Players are introduced to the Junior Giants program, their team and the values that will guide the season. This week helps create a welcoming environment where everyone feels included.

    Week 2 — Health

Players learn about the importance of staying active, eating well and taking care of their bodies and minds so they can perform their best both on and off the field.

Week 3 — Strike Out Bullying

This week focuses on kindness, respect and standing up for others. Players talk about how they can help create safe and supportive environments for their teammates and classmates.

    Week 4 — Education

Players explore the importance of learning, staying curious and working hard in school. Coaches encourage players to see how dedication in the classroom connects to success in sports and life.

    Week 5 — Confidence

Players learn how to believe in themselves, try new things and bounce back from challenges. This week encourages players to trust their abilities and support one another.

    Week 6 — Teamwork

Baseball and softball are team sports, and this week highlights the importance of communication, collaboration and supporting teammates both on and off the field.

    Week 7 — Leadership

Players explore what it means to be a leader — setting a positive example, encouraging others and stepping up to help their team succeed.

    Week 8 — Integrity

Integrity focuses on doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Players discuss honesty, responsibility and respect for others both in sports and in everyday life.

    Continuing the Conversation

The Words of the Week are designed to spark meaningful conversations that extend beyond the baseball field. By encouraging discussions between coaches, players and families, Junior Giants helps young people build the character and life skills needed to succeed in school, relationships and their communities.
