Cleveland Guardians Charities

Mission

The mission of Cleveland Guardians Charities is to prepare youth for success and remove barriers for youth to play baseball and softball in Cleveland.

History

Cleveland Guardians Charities (CGC) is the official philanthropic arm of the Cleveland Guardians and a long-standing driver of community investment across Northeast Ohio. Founded in 1989, CGC advances opportunity for youth and families by aligning resources, partnerships, and the unifying power of baseball to address community-identified needs. What began as a team foundation has grown into a philanthropic partner committed to creating lasting opportunity through intentional, community-centered investment.

CGC focuses its work where it can generate the greatest return for the community, with an emphasis on youth development, education, and equitable access to sport. Through a portfolio of community initiatives, capital investments in fields and facilities, and targeted grantmaking to local nonprofits and youth leagues, CGC works to reduce barriers to participation and strengthen the systems that support young people. These investments are designed to be catalytic, prioritizing organizations and programs that create sustainable outcomes beyond a single season or grant cycle.

Fueled by fans, players, partners, and staff, CGC mobilizes millions of dollars annually through diversified fundraising efforts. With a strong commitment to stewardship, collaboration, and measurable impact, CGC reinvests directly in the communities it serves. These investments help strengthen neighborhoods, expand opportunity for the next generation, and reinforce the belief that lasting change happens when philanthropy is intentional, accountable, and community-centered.
