As part of Phillies Salute to Service presented by Toyota, local military heroes, including an active-duty member and veteran from each US branch, were honored on field at Citizens Bank Park. As part of these ceremonies, Todd Kerkering, father of Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering, had a heartwarming, emotional reaction to the on-field salute.
Additionally, retired US Air Force pararescue medic Holley Beckes, who was given a Salute to Service surprise last week at the Veterans Multi-Service Center in Old City, threw out a ceremonial first pitch.
