Schwarber (illness) out of starting lineup a second straight game

PHILADELPHIA -- After sitting out the Phillies' 5-4 win over the Reds on Monday night, was out of the starting lineup again for Tuesday's tilt.

Schwarber woke up Monday feeling "under the weather," according to interim manager Don Mattingly.

“He seems a little better, but not good enough, obviously, to be in there,” Mattingly said prior to Tuesday’s game. “We'll see how it goes as the day goes on. Yesterday, really, there was no real shot. Today, maybe. Still didn't feel great, but he may have a shot to hit.”

Monday marked the first game Schwarber had missed since Sept. 11, 2024, ending his streak of 225 consecutive games played.

Schwarber leads the Majors with 20 home runs this season, including hitting nine homers in his past 10 games.

Bryce Harper -- the only Phillie to play in every game so far this season -- took Schwarber's spot as the designated hitter against the Reds on Monday, but Trea Turner took over the role Tuesday night, with Harper shifting to first base.
