COMPLETE GIANTS PROSPECT COVERAGE
Team to watch
Many of the players who contributed to a California League championship at Single-A San Jose last year are reunited at High-A Eugene.
The lineup is stacked with shortstop Gavin Kilen, the 13th overall pick in the 2025 Draft; outfielder Dakota Jordan, who came up just one hit and one RBI short of the Cal League triple crown; outfielder Trevor Cohen, whose elite bat-to-ball skills translated into a .327 average in his pro debut last summer; and outfielder Carlos Gutierrez, a career .352 hitter in the Minors.
Don't sleep on versatile catcher Jancel Villarroel or outfielder Lisbel Diaz either. Emeralds pitching is in good hands with left-handers Jacob Bresnahan (the 2025 Cal League pitcher of the year) and Luis De La Torre, and right-hander Gerelmi Maldonado, whose fastball tops out at 101 mph.
Players we could see in MLB in 2026
First baseman Bryce Eldridge, the best power prospect in the Minors, was the youngest position player (age 20) to appear in the big leagues last year and could return soon to give the Giants' struggling offense a jolt. Right-handers Blade Tidwell and Trevor McDonald and left-hander Carson Whisenhunt also saw big league action in 2025 and figure to do so again this season. Catcher Jesus Rodriguez and righty Trent Harris could make their big league debuts.
New faces
Shortstop Luis Hernández, who accomplished the rare feat of making the Top 100 Prospects list before making his pro debut, will come to United States for said debut and play in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League in May.
Daniel Susac, taken from the Athletics in the Rule 5 Draft, found a spot on the big league roster. Villarroel came from the Astros in a trade for Kai-Wei Teng in January.
On the shelf
Third baseman Parks Harber, who ranked second only to Kevin McGonigle in the Minors (minimum: 300 plate appearances) last year with a 173 wRC+, strained his right hamstring during Spring Training. Villarroel is recovering from offseason meniscus surgery. Both should begin playing in extended spring training games soon.
