Our vision is for every young person in Baltimore City and surrounding counties to have access and opportunity to play baseball and softball.
As such, the Baltimore Orioles Community Relations team runs the Nike RBI and Jr. RBI Leagues, which annually serve over 900+ boys and girls, ages 5-18, in Baltimore City and Baltimore County areas. Nike RBI provides team equipment, uniforms, field access, training, and umpires at no cost to players and their families, and supports a cohort of dedicated coaches who use baseball and softball as a platform to teach core values of teamwork, respect, and leadership.
High school senior baseball players chosen by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association competed in the Brooks Robinson High School All-Star Game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The game recognizes some of the most talented players across the state. Players and coaches were also introduced and presented with their jerseys during a press conference at the ballpark prior to the game.
Orioles Head Athletic Trainer, Scott Barringer, members of the Orioles Athletic Training Staff, Taylor Hooten Foundation, and Henry Schein Cares Foundation hosted the annual P.L.A.Y. Clinic for members of the Nike RBI program at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. As part of the clinic, the little leaguers completed drills, learned about the importance of proper nutrition, the danger of steroids, and participated in a Q&A with Orioles pitcher Cade Povich and Orioles 1B Coby Mayo.
The Jr. RBI program is the entry-level program for younger participants.
The RBI and Jr. RBI program spans over various communities in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
Nike RBI teams were invited to a pre-game bullpen party to celebrate the RBI season. The champions of each age group were recognized before the game for their accomplishments.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, the Orioles proudly celebrated Highlandtown, the first all-Hispanic team in the Orioles RBI Program. The Baltimore Orioles RBI and Jr. RBI programs offer opportunities to the next generation of baseball and softball players in Baltimore City.
The Orioles Field Revitalization Project is designed to improve the field conditions of baseball and softball fields in Baltimore City, making them safe, playable, and inviting places for youth to enjoy the game. In coordination with Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, the Orioles identified the 60-foot youth field at Roosevelt Park as the site for the 2021 project. The field renovation was completed with the help of volunteers who put the finishing touches on the field by assisting with laying sod, painting fencing, repairing benches, raking and lining the field, among other improvements.
Our Nike RBI, supported by Giant regional teams, traveled nation-wide to compete in multiple games over various weekends.
The Orioles hosted Nike RBI as well as coaches from local programs for a clinic ran by USA Baseball.
Scott Yelle, Founder of the Jackson Yelle Foundation, in honor of his late son visited Camden Yards for the RBI Pre- Game Activation where the foundation also donated to the program.
